Winter at the lake

Whenever a thick sheet of ice covers the Zeller See, that also means major wintertime fun. Glide on skates across the ice, or maybe try your hand for the first time at a game of Bavarian curling. When the temperatures are not low enough for skating on the lake you can always go to the ice arena in Zell am See. And footpaths around the lake also give you the opportunity to experience the year’s coldest season from its most beautiful perspective. A winter hike on Zell am See’s promenade or along groomed paths will let you breathe in the wintery atmosphere in a very relaxed way.

Ski tours

Ski touring becomes an increasingly popular mountain sport and is possible even for beginners with little experience thanks to marked trails. Climb the summit of the Ronachkopf, a popular area for ski tourers, or even go up to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Those who do not feel up to go alone can simply go on a guided ski tour with trained mountaineers. After the climb you will get the reward in form of the descent in the fresh powder snow.
